Game 3 Recap

Superbad FC, finally with a ball drop before half the squad’s bedtime of 10pm, looked to bounce back in game # 3 following their first loss of the season. Superbad FC was up against the more experienced team Panthers SC .  Things were looking grim for SBFC from the get go, missing both Keeper Andrew Pinlac for the third straight game and backup-goalie Steven Carias. With no keeper, Raffi Nazarethian stepped up to play keep. It was not all lost, as SBFC veteran Michael Fanelli was set to make his 2017 debut with the club. SBFC was keeping up with Panthers SC until the 15th minute where a costly defensive tackle resulted in a free kick just outside the Nazarethians box. Panthers SC took the opportunity and netted the free kick. 1-0. At the 21 minute mark, a loose ball bounced out infront of Panthers SC‘s net infront of Cory Da Silva who was challenged by a defender last second, resulting in a deflected shot off the cross bar. Panthers SC scored another goal at the 25 minute mark. Shortly after the goal, SBFC was awarded with a free kick just outside the box. The ball was laid off for Jason Morgan who placed the shot just right of the goal. 32 minutes in, Panthers SC scored a long distance rocket placed perfectly into the bottom right corner. Panthers SC kept up intense pressure and keeper Nazarethian was pounded with shots, producing some brodeur-esque saves. Unfortunately for Nazarethian, consecutive rebounded shots proved too much and Panthers SC scored their 4th goal of the game. Shortly after the goal, SBFC forward Juan Dussan, looking to get back in the game, exerted himself just a tad too hard and rolled his ankle, Dussan was out for the remainder of the game. At the 40 minute mark, SBFC finally woke up, and a connection between the Michaels resulted in Fanelli notching SBFC’s first of the night. SBFC found some life after Fanelli’s goal and kept the pressure on Panthers SC. A full field pass from Nazarethian lead to a one time over the shoulder strike by Jason Morgan, closing the gap to 4-2. Unfortunately this would be the end of SBFCs offensive showing, a sPanthers SC proceeded to score a last minute goal, ending the game at 5-2.
